POSITION:  Executive Administrative Consultant to the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities

The Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities (TECSCU) is a dynamic and progressive educational organization made up of deans/directors of education in state colleges and universities and is seeking an Executive Administrative Consultant to provide administrative support.

JOB OVERVIEW:   The Executive Administrative Consultant to TECSCU provides administrative support to the Executive Board and the TECSCU membership. The Consultant also provides comprehensive clerical support, assists in organizing meetings and conferences, handles research duties, and takes care of the banking and financial business of the Organization.  Technology skills are used regularly in developing spreadsheets, accessing records to verify the current deans at member institutions, generating reports, filling out business related forms, updating the TECSCU webpage, and automating Council records and archives.  Having excellent verbal and written communication skills is important since the Executive Administrative Consultant is a representative of the President as well as the Council when communicating with members and external agents. Likewise, strong interpersonal skills are extremely necessary in dealing with TECSCU members, Executive Committee Members, and other individuals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to the TECSCU President and Executive Committee.
  • Obtain administrative and financial information upon which Committee members can base decisions
  • ·Develop and maintain Council’s databases
  • Respond promptly to written internal and external inquiries 
  • Process various reports/requests that come in from the President, the Executive Committee keeping the Council on track with what formal submissions need to be made and when
  • Track work flow and resolve problems relating to procedures and deadlines
  • Manage calendars and schedules as requested and/or needed 
  • Assist in organizing Executive Committee meetings and producing relevant material
  • Prepare and produce notices, memos and TECSCU agendas
  • Research information and produce summaries for Area Representatives
  • Ensure a well-articulated and comprehensive communication strategy is in place, which includes newsletters and other publications
  • Maintain routine business processes and banking
  • Resolve issues related to the business portion of the organization (refunds, etc.)
  • Serve as a liaison to membership as directed by President
  • Liaison with external organizations as needed
  • Open, review incoming mail and distribute as appropriate
  • Handle routine correspondence for Board President
  • Proofread and correct documents and drafts of email blasts and send them
  • Order supplies and manage paperwork necessary for purchasing
  • Compile information provided by the Executive Committee members and automate it
  • Support review of the Christa McAuliffe Award nominees
  • Follow up and provide needed support when helping with various projects
  • Prepare statistics/data required for Federal reporting
  • Assist completing governmental reports

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated experience in basic business operations
  • Technical skills necessary to responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of or involvement in the teacher education profession
  • Book keeping related to a moderate-sized budget
  • Office management assistance
  • Basic knowledge of website management
